Richard Chelin is a researcher at at the Centre for the Study of Violence and Reconciliation currently working on the African Comparative Transitional Justice Project. He worked previously as a project coordinator and a researcher coordinating and contributing to various research projects related to security, natural resource governance and local government. He is also an Africa analyst contributing his insights on various news channels, focusing on political and security issues in Africa. His research interests are in the field of transitional justice, reconciliation, social justice and post-conflict reconstruction. He holds a M.Soc.Sci and B.Soc.Sci (Hon.) in Conflict Transformation and Peace Studies from the University of KwaZulu-Natal.
